Brief History of Pasuquin

As early as the 17th century the municipality was known as PA-ASOKEN. The name PA-ASOKEN as derived from a local dialect “pa-asok” which literally means kindling a fire to produce a smoke. The smoke was kindled on a hill called Sentinella, where the watchman monitored if there were invading ships coming from the South China Sea, to warn the settlers. Upon seeing the smoke, the settlers below the hill would assemble for war and meet the coming invaders, whether they were Chinese, Tirongs, Ibaliws, etc. at the shores of the West Philippine Sea. The Frailes and Spanish Conquistadors then named the area with the growing community “PA-ASOKEN” which later transformed into “PASUQUIN.”

The activity was implemented through the partnership of the Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT) and the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD), in coordination with the Local Government Unit of Pasuquin.The initiative aims to help beneficiaries stay connected to essential digital services, government updates, and official program notifications. LOOK: Tobacco Farmers in Pasuquin Receive Farm Inputs AssistanceThe Municipal Government of Pasuquin, through the Municipal Agriculture Office (MAO), distributed farm inputs to qualified tobacco farmers under the Fiscal Year 2022 Excise Tax Fund pursuant to Republic Act No. 8240.The assistance package included basal fertilizer, sulfate fertilizer, urea fertilizer, and insecticides aimed at helping farmers improve crop management and productivity throughout the planting season.The program seeks to ease the financial burden of agricultural production, enhance the quality and yield of tobacco crops, and support the continued growth of the municipality’s agricultural sector.Through initiatives such as this, the local government remains committed to empowering farmers and promoting a more productive, resilient, and sustainable farming community in Pasuquin.#PROMISINGPASUQUIN ... LOOK: Farmers Receive Piglets and Feeds Under Agri Ka Dito ProgramLocal farmers in Pasuquin received piglets and feeds through the Agri Ka Dito Program of the Provincial Government of Ilocos Norte (PGIN) during a distribution activity held on June 16, 2026, at the Municipal Agriculture Office.The assistance, which was requested by local farmers to support and enhance their livestock production, was distributed in the presence of Hon. LOOK: Pasuquin Commemorates the 128th Philippine Independence DayIn celebration of the 128th Philippine Independence Day, the Local Government Unit of Pasuquin held a patriotic program at the Municipal Plaza, in front of the Rizal Monument last June 12, attended by local officials, government employees, uniformed personnel, and members of the community.The ceremony commenced with the singing of the Philippine National Anthem, led by Reziamae Solsoloy, a finalist of Aweng Season 5. The event was marked by a strong display of patriotism and unity as participants gathered to honor the sacrifices of the nation's heroes.A wreath-laying ceremony was spearheaded by Municipal Vice Mayor Harry Kitt Aguinaldo together with Lieutenant Owen James B.
